Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Arrives, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the upcoming animated film.
The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the outer limits of the universe. There, he will encounter a new princess and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Iconic Releases
In the vein of the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands
The feature will welcome back of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
The new Mario movie is planned to debut close to the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his companions.
The company has three new games officially announced for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
