James Comey was the FBI Director from four years and was terminated about a few months into Donald Trump's first term as commander-in-chief. At the moment, the director was leading an examination into foreign election meddling and whether there were any connections between Russia and the presidential campaign.

The federal government assert the former director lied to US lawmakers during a legislative proceeding in September 2020 when he was being examined about both the Clinton investigation as well as the Russia election probe. They allege he provided false information to the legislative body by stating he had not approved an individual at the FBI to leak to journalistic entities data about the government examinations.

Prosecutors also accuse Mr Comey of "wrongfully trying to influence, obstruct and delay" the committee by providing untrue information to it.

Individual Responses

These allegations against the former director surfaced after Trump shared on social media demanding his top legal official, Ms Bondi, take legal action against James Comey and other people.
